A move and a bump!

Well....we did it! We are all moved in. We still have some stuff to organize and get unpacked but we are here. We got all moved and about 50% unpacked in one day! Whooo that was a lot of work but very well worth it. Kelsey had her room unpacked and was very excited about gaining some space to her living area. She is loving the fact that she can see her carpet and actually has enough room for more than two people to fit in at a time. Oh and I should add that she is probably as thrilled as I am to leave the green carpet behind! Kayden set up some stuff in his room on his own and was so proud of himself for that. Mommy was pretty proud too. Barrett and I have a to do list that is forever long but we are trying to do a little at a time. I think this house re modeling stuff will keep us busy for a while. We are both really excited about it. It's time well spent together and I am enjoying learning new things. I am so glad I married such a handyman! I think after all the unpacking is done and we have a "place" for everything we are going to start on the next project. We have completed one bathroom and will move to the next by the end of this week. I can't wait to have it done. One bathroom for us 4 gets a little tricky in the mornings.

The second night we were at our new home, we ended up at the ER. I had the kids bathed and almost in bed when Kayden ran into the corner of the wall! OUCH! I ran in the hallway to pick him up and went to the living room to look at it and when I picked his head up there was blood everywhere! With the help of Robbie and Kelsey (Barrett wasn't home) we got it to stop bleeding but had to take him to get stitches. Although he was pretty funny on the pain meds they gave him it was one of the hardest things I have had to go through with him. When we asked how he felt before they came in to stitch him up he said "rrrreeeeaaaalllyyyy good!" but after they got done he said he never wanted to go back to that place again! It was awful! The crying and yelling of mommy help was heartbreaking but we made it through 4 stitches later. He is doing just fine now and it seems to be healing quickly. Boys will be boys!

I'm back!

Well...I have been SO busy that I haven't had a chance to sit down and blog about everything. I missed it so much. It really is something I enjoy doing and hope others might enjoy reading. Let's see...where should I pick up?

Thanksgiving....what a wonderful day we had! For some odd reason I wanted to cook a lot this year. I do enjoy cooking and do it often for my family but on Thanksgiving I normally like to just enjoy everyone else's cooking. This year I was ready to cook and try some new things. I made a pumpkin pie cake...YUMMM!!! It was so good. We always go to my Aunt Laura's house and the girls start the preparation of all the food the night before. I made the cake then and decided I would come back the next morning to make the banana pudding and rice casserole. When I got there half of the cake was gone! They all laughed and said "Well, you said we could try it!" Guess I will be making that next year. It was a hit! Kelsey pretty much enjoys all the goodies. She enjoys playing with her cousins more than anything. this year we did let her join the adult Phase 10 table! Yikes that means she is really growing up! It's usually a no kids zone. Kayden and Barrett were looking forward to the deviled eggs the most! They are too funny. I think between the two of them they might have been able to finish an entire tray! I should probably consider making them more than just once a year for those two! The day was great...not only was the food amazing, the company of my family was even better!!

Movin on up!!! Now for the reason I have been SO busy! We are moving!!!! Oh my gosh....after 7 years at my house we are finally moving. This is really bittersweet for me! There have been so many memories there. I guess it has just been the one steady consistent thing in my life for so long. I always knew that no matter what struggles I went through that was still home. It was something I could always count on being there. I do realize that my life has changed so much for the positive in so many ways and our future is so promising that the stability of my family being there is more rewarding than anything! Barrett and I both bought our homes around the same time about 7 years ago. We are renting mine out (thank goodness we found some great people to rent it!) and we are moving into his. It's a little smaller but we have such big plans for it and know it will be much easier to get all the things we want to do to it done if we are living there! This weekend we got all new carpet and it made a huge difference! All the flooring is now new and looks so good. We plan to start closing in our garage and making it our master bedroom. Four bedrooms...I'm sure you can figure out what that means!! =) Everyday this week after work we will be going to the new house and painting. Tonight the kids will put our Christmas tree up. They are so excited and have been patiently waiting for us to make final decisions on the moving process so that they can have a tree! We can move everything in this weekend and get unpacked so that we can host our families Christmas Eve party!

Weekend Fun!

This weekend went by really fast! I got to spend lots of girl time with my best friend that was very much needed. I laughed and laughed and yes you guessed it...laughed some more. She is always so good at putting a smile on my face. I am thankful for her and am blessed to have such a great friend...I know they don't come easy. If i could choose one friend, it would be her.

We are remodeling Barrett's house in hopes that we will soon be moving there. We both own our homes so we will be renting one out (hopefully)! We so far have put a new sink and toilet in the main bathroom and added backsplash. My Uncle John put ceramic tile in the dining room and kitchen and this weekend him and Barrett laid our new wood floors. Robbie and I were the clean up crew...that was hard work! This time together has been fun. We keep addidng more to the list that we want to fix or update. We work really well together!! Team Gregson Construction Crew =) I will try and keep updated pictures as we get some things done.

Sunday we had Thanksgiving with the Roberts side of our family. I always enjoy these gatherings. Lots of laughter, love of course and the food is delicious! The men in this family really crack me up especially Cole!!! I could just sit at the table and listen to their stories all day. We missed having our kiddos there though. I always hate when they have to miss things but I do know that I have to share (even though I don't like it)! Kayden went on his first camping trip and was so excited so the night ended with lots of fishing stories that he is already really good at telling! Kelsey reminded Barrett and I that she might be obsessed with Justin Bieber several times. The AMA's were on and it was mandatory that she stay up late to watch him. I mean there are things in life that you just can't miss! Yikes they are growing up too fast!

If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Yesterday was one of the worst days I have had in a very long time. I cried almost the entire day and was so ready to be at home curled up in my bed so that I could start fresh today. I am thankful for my husband for so many reason but yesterday he really came through! I think I cried for 30 minutes over the phone to him on my lunch break and he was so supportive and caring. What a man!! I left work and headed to the grocery store to buy the stuff for mini meatloaves...Yummm! I got home, started dinner and got Barrett and Kelsey out the door to guitar lessons. About half way through frying my meat I realized that I was FRYING my meat instead of preparing it to bake!! I then called Barrett (of course crying) and told him he would have to stop by the grocery store on the way home. After dinner was done...thank God for my husband a children (Kayden made the macaroni) I cleaned the kitchen and made my lunch that ended up falling off of the counter all over the kitchen floor. I then changed clothes kissed my babies and got in bed. WHAT A DAY! I know that things happen but my gosh all in one day! So...today I am thankful for better days...I woke up (let me say that again...I woke up!!!) so that is a great start. I then walk in my bathroom to find this....

If that doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will! =)  He wants to be just like his sissy! After being at work for an hour I get a delivery of yummy cake balls from my amazing mother. They were delicious! How sweet of her....I hope when I grow up I can be just like her!

I can honestly say that the people  that love you the most really know how to come through on some of our rough days. I love each and every one of them for making my days brighter! Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be.

Kayden is 5!

November 14th we celebrated Kayden's 5th birthday! He was actually 5 on the 7th but in his mind he was not 5 until he had a party! We had 24 kids, 27 adults and SO much fun. Kayden wanted Barrett to cook him fried fish and so he got his wish. Barrett is a great fish fryer and his cousin Justin came and helped which made it that much better! We were so thankful for his help...he might want to go ahead a plan to be at the next event....He helped decorate and clean up! =)

We had a moonwalk for the kiddos and of course they loved it. Robbie made Kayden's Mario cake and it looked great and tasted wonderful...thanks Robbie! They were all nice and wore out and smelt like little puppy dogs once the day was done. We enjoyed spending the day with friends and family and are very thankful that the rain held off and everyone had a good time. I still can't believe that my little "wittle" is five! He is getting so big!

Let's see how this works!

I have just recently become very interested in this blogging stuff! I am going to try and see if I can keep up. I think that stopping every day or two to reflect on what has gone on within the last 24-48 hours is a good thing. All too often I forget about what I did 20 minutes ago. Being a mom of 2 keeps you on your toes for sure but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I think for this first blog I will just reflect on the past month. I am married to my very best friend and had the wedding I have always dreamed of and then some! I am so grateful for all of our family and friends that came to share our special day with us. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and couldn't have done any of it without our parents that we love so very much. Barrett and I along with the kiddos are ready for this new journey through life.

Our first journey together was the honeymoon to The Dominican Republic. We LOVE it there and can't wait to go back. The people were so friendly and welcoming. The resort was out of this world and the beaches were amazing. We have nothing but good things to say about this place. We mainly stayed close to the beach or the pools but we did venture out one day to go on an excursion. We were taken by bus to a starting point where we got to pick out a buggy (more like a go-cart) to ride. We went through all kinds of mud, saw the schools and houses that people there live in and we were taught how to make coffee and chocolate. We really enjoyed getting out for the day and seeing that side of The Dominican. We were gone for 7 nights and were so happy to see the kids when we got back. That is a LONG time to be without those sweet kisses and hugs that momma is used to!
